Top 14 Allergy Free-From
Allergen-Free Marshmallows
All the Joy, None of the Worry
No dairy. No gluten. No egg, nuts, soya or sesame. Freedom Mallows are meticulously formulated free from the Top 14 allergens — so birthday parties, lunchboxes and movie nights stay open to absolutely everyone.
Are marshmallows allergen-free?
Not usually. Standard marshmallows contain animal gelatine, and many are made on lines shared with milk, egg, nut or gluten products — hence all those “may contain” warnings. Freedom Mallows are built differently: our marshmallow range is meticulously formulated free from the Top 14 allergens and contains no gelatine at all. One bag, everyone in. As always with allergies, the label on the pack in your hand is the final word — we make that easy to check too.
Tap an allergen. Watch it not be there.
These are the 14 major allergens recognised in UK food law. Flip every card — our marshmallow recipe dodges the lot.
Fourteen flips, fourteen green ticks. That’s the Freedom Mallows recipe — and why our packs skip the “may contain” small print that rules so many treats out. Deep-dive any allergen on our allergens guide.
Allergy trust is earned in the small print
Allergy parents read labels for a living — so here’s ours, translated. No fudging (well, except the actual fudge).
The marshmallow range: Top 14 free-from
Every Freedom Mallow — Vegantics, Minis, Biggies and BBQ bags — is formulated free from all 14 major allergens, with no gelatine and no artificial extras. It’s the range this page is about, and the one we’d hand to any classroom.
Two honest exceptions
Our Gummies “Tots” are free from 9 allergens (no egg, peanut, tree nut, soya or milk ingredients) but are made in a facility that may also handle these. And our chocolate-coated treats carry their own separate nut statement. Both are clearly labelled — details here.
The pack is the promise
Recipes and facilities can evolve, so the golden rule of allergy-safe snacking never changes: check the label on the pack in your hand. We keep ours clear, honest and jargon-free — and Cedric answers anything the label doesn’t.

“Freedom Confectionery is helping to bring some normality to the lives of PKU sufferers, who can’t eat what their friends eat. Their faces light up when they are given a bag of marshmallows… Inclusion is a big thing for children with PKU.” — Prof. Anita MacDonald, on Freedom’s PKU-suitable treats

Allergen-free FAQs
What allergens do marshmallows usually contain?
A classic marshmallow is sugar, glucose, water and gelatine — so the recipe itself is often low-allergen, but many brands add egg white, and “may contain” warnings for milk, gluten, nuts or soya are common because of shared production lines. Freedom Mallows remove both worries: a Top 14 free-from recipe and no gelatine either.
Are Freedom marshmallows nut-free, dairy-free and gluten-free?
Yes — our marshmallow range is formulated free from all Top 14 allergens, which includes peanuts, tree nuts, milk, and cereals containing gluten, plus egg, soya, sesame, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, celery, mustard, lupin and sulphites. Chocolate-coated products are the exception with their own nut statement — always check the pack.
Can you be allergic to marshmallows?
It’s rare but possible — reactions are usually to added ingredients (egg white, milk derivatives, cross-contamination traces) rather than the mallow itself, and some people react to gelatine. That’s why a clearly labelled, Top 14 free-from, gelatine-free marshmallow takes so much of the guesswork away. If you have a diagnosed allergy, always read the pack and consult your allergy team.
Are your marshmallows safe for schools and nut-free classrooms?
Our marshmallow range is made without nuts or peanuts and is free from the Top 14 allergens, which is why parents and teachers choose it for classroom celebrations and bake days. School policies differ, so share the pack label (or this page!) with staff — it answers their checklist line by line.
Are allergen-free marshmallows vegan too?
Not automatically — most “free-from” marshmallows still use animal gelatine. Ours are the exception: 100% gelatine-free, fully vegan and halal certified on top of being Top 14 free-from.
What does “Top 14 allergens” mean?
They’re the 14 allergens UK and EU food law requires to be declared: celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soya and sulphites. Flip them all in the grid above — our mallow recipe avoids every one.
Do allergen-free marshmallows taste different?
Honestly? Most people can’t tell — except ours are arguably fluffier. They toast, melt and squish like the classics, at 68 kcal a serving and fat-free. The only thing missing is the worry.
Where can I buy allergen-free marshmallows in the UK?
Direct from our shop with UK-wide delivery, on Amazon UK, and at selected retailers including Ocado and Booths. US friends: our US store ships stateside.
